Just Announced Effective 30 June 2026

The Claude Certified Architect Exam Just Moved to Pearson VUE. Here's Everything That Changed.

Anthropic has moved the Claude Certified Architect – Foundations (CCA-F) exam off its Skilljar Academy + ProctorFree setup onto Pearson VUE. The upshot: a higher fee, a real retake system, a fixed 12-month term with free renewal, and no more practice exam — but the exam content itself is unchanged. You can now retake without the old 6-month lockout.

Note: a rumoured "$49 partner price" appears only on unofficial third-party prep sites, not in any official Anthropic source — treat it as unverified.

The detail

What Each Change Actually Means

Pricing — $99 → $125

A 26% list-price rise, paid in Anthropic Partner Academy before you're sent to Pearson. The old "first 5,000 partner attempts free" model is replaced by discounts tied to your Claude Partner Network tier. A bulk-voucher storefront is "in progress."

Retakes — 1 → up to 4 / year

Failing used to be final. Now there's a structured path back in — up to 4 attempts per rolling 12 months, at full price each time, with waits that grow after each fail:

Fail #1 → wait 14 days #2 → 30 days #3 → 90 days

Recertification — 12-month term

Certifications now expire 12 months after you earn them. Renew on time with a free, non-proctored assessment on Partner Academy. Let it lapse and you must retake the full proctored exam at full fee — so diarise the date.

Practice exam — removed

The full-length practice exam (target 900/1000) is gone. The exam guide now ships sample questions with explanations only. The old 8-step prep checklist lost its "Complete the Practice Exam" step — you no longer get a scored dry run, which makes real hands-on prep more important than ever.

New registration flow

1Find the exam prep courses in Anthropic Partner Academy
2Open exam details and pay the $125 fee
3Get an email with a link to Pearson
4Schedule in Pearson — OnVUE online or a test center

Check system requirements first at pearsonvue.com/us/en/anthropic/onvue.html

Results & badge

You see your score on screen right after the exam (online or at a center), and test-center takers also get a printed report. Results are pass/fail only. Pass, and Credly emails you the badge to claim and share on LinkedIn — issued through Credly now, not directly.

The Transition Rule — In Plain Terms

Failed before the move?

Your earlier failed attempt is cleared. Register and retake on Pearson with no waiting period — no more 6-month lockout.

Passed before the move?

Your certification stays valid for 12 months from your original pass date. Note the renewal deadline so you can recertify for free before it lapses.

Heads-up: Anthropic's transition FAQ uses the acronym "CCAR-F" once here, versus "CCA-F" everywhere else — most likely a typo, not a new credential.

New rulebook

A Formal Exam Policy Now Governs Everything

The move introduces a standalone Anthropic Certification Exam Policy (dated 25 June 2026) — the program's first formal governance document. The most notable additions:

Using AI to assist you during the exam is explicitly banned
A new line in the misconduct list — alongside impersonation, unauthorised devices, unscheduled breaks, and reverse-engineering exam content.
Confidentiality
Exam questions and answers are Anthropic Confidential Information — no copying, recording, or posting.
Appeals, accommodations, expiry & regional access
14-day appeal window (Pearson first), individually-reviewed accommodations, beta-cert expiry rules, and Anthropic's right to exclude specific regions.
The good news

What Did Not Change

If you've already been studying, none of your prep is wasted. The exam itself is word-for-word identical — same domains, scenarios, sample questions, and pass bar.

5 domains · same weightings

Agentic Architecture & Orchestration27%
Claude Code Configuration & Workflows20%
Prompt Engineering & Structured Output20%
Tool Design & MCP Integration18%
Context Management & Reliability15%

Format & pass bar — unchanged

60 questions 120 minutes 4 of 6 scenarios Scaled 100–1,000 Pass = 720

Same 6 scenarios

1 · Customer Support Resolution Agent
2 · Code Generation with Claude Code
3 · Multi-Agent Research System
4 · Developer Productivity with Claude
5 · Claude Code for Continuous Integration
6 · Structured Data Extraction
Bottom line

Costs a bit more, but far more forgiving — and your prep still counts.

The bar to pass is exactly the same; only the logistics got friendlier (retakes) and stricter (a formal policy, no practice exam). If you were waiting to sit it, there's no reason to wait now.

Quick answers

CCA-F Platform Move — FAQ

How much does the CCA-F exam cost now?

From 30 June 2026 it's USD $125 (up from $99), paid through Anthropic Partner Academy before you're directed to Pearson VUE to schedule. Partner discounts now scale with your Claude Partner Network tier.

Can I retake the exam now?

Yes — up to 4 times per rolling 12 months. Waits grow with each fail: 14 days after the first, 30 after the second, 90 after the third. Each retake is the full fee. Previously it was a single attempt with no retake path.

How long is the certification valid, and how do I recertify?

It's valid 12 months from the date you earn it. Renew on time with a free, non-proctored assessment on Partner Academy. If it lapses, you must retake the full proctored exam at full fee.

Is there still a practice exam?

No. The official practice exam has been removed. The exam guide now includes sample questions with explanations to show format and style, but there's no scored full-length practice run anymore.

I attempted it before 30 June 2026 — what happens to me?

If you failed before the move, that attempt is cleared and you can retake on Pearson with no waiting period. If you passed, your certification is valid for 12 months from your original pass date.

Did the exam content or difficulty change?

No. The five domains, weightings, six scenarios, sample questions, and pass bar (720) are identical. Only the platform, pricing, retake, recertification, and policy details changed — your study prep still fully applies. See our CCA-F study guide.
